The House Of Hanover

George Ludwig elector Hanover, was crowned King George I of Great Britain. He was the oldest person, so far, to get to the throne. Even though he had that disadvantage, he had something in his favor: he was protestant.
George I was succeeded by his son George II and then by his grandson George III.  Their relationship with the parliament changed the way England was governed forever. During their time in the throne Britain developed a second parallel monarchy, the prime minister.
George I just learned a few English words. He was more interested in his German estate.
There were 2 political parties: the wings and the Tories. They were alternating the power for like 30 years before George I became King. The Tories were the ones that wanted all “traditional” .They didn’t wanted to change anything; while the Whigs were the ones that were looking to restrict the royal power.
Monarchs tried not to totally align with either the Tories or the Whigs because they waned to have fully freedom of action. This means that they wanted to do whatever they wanted to.
George I was really interested in military affairs; wars, fights and weapons were like his hobbies. He fought with English in the war of the Spanish succession. He blamed the Tories for the peace settled, but he distrusted them even more because he realized that they supporting “the pretender”, who claimed the English throne. “The pretender” is a catholic man, from the Stuart family of Scotland, who was the nearest successor for the throne. He wasn’t selected to be the next leader because he wasn’t protestant.
After doubting of the Tories, he aligned with the Whigs. George used all of his royal influences, making the Whigs stayed on the power for a really long period of time, like almost 100 years.
Having already the Tories out of the way, the Whigs started fights among themselves because each of them wanted to obtain more power.
There was some struggle between George I and his sun George II. One of the most important differences between George and his son was that George II spoke English and he was definitely more interested and familiarized in English events.
What we can get about this is that in lots of royal families there is crisis and struggle when putting someone in the throne. Like nowadays, people wanted to choose the best option for their country, so the best aspirant had to be selected to succeed the leader who was reigning. In this case, for example, the next in line of succession was “the pretender” but George I was selected because he was a protestant.
