The House Of Hanover

George Ludwig elector Hanover, was crowned King George I of Great Britain. He was the oldest person, so far, to get to the throne. Even though he had that disadvantage, he had something in his favor: he was protestant.
George I was succeeded by his son George II and then by his grandson George III.  Their relationship with the parliament changed the way England was governed forever. During their time in the throne Britain developed a second parallel monarchy, the prime minister.
George I just learned a few English words. He was more interested in his German estate.
There were 2 political parties: the wings and the Tories. They were alternating the power for like 30 years before George I became King. The Tories were the ones that wanted all “traditional” .They didn’t wanted to change anything; while the Whigs were the ones that were looking to restrict the royal power.
Monarchs tried not to totally align with either the Tories or the Whigs because they waned to have fully freedom of action. This means that they wanted to do whatever they wanted to.
George I was really interested in military affairs; wars, fights and weapons were like his hobbies. He fought with English in the war of the Spanish succession. He blamed the Tories for the peace settled, but he distrusted them even more because he realized that they supporting “the pretender”, who claimed the English throne. “The pretender” is a catholic man, from the Stuart family of Scotland, who was the nearest successor for the throne. He wasn’t selected to be the next leader because he wasn’t protestant.
After doubting of the Tories, he aligned with the Whigs. George used all of his royal influences, making the Whigs stayed on the power for a really long period of time, like almost 100 years.
Having already the Tories out of the way, the Whigs started fights among themselves because each of them wanted to obtain more power.
There was some struggle between George I and his sun George II. One of the most important differences between George and his son was that George II spoke English and he was definitely more interested and familiarized in English events.
What we can get about this is that in lots of royal families there is crisis and struggle when putting someone in the throne. Like nowadays, people wanted to choose the best option for their country, so the best aspirant had to be selected to succeed the leader who was reigning. In this case, for example, the next in line of succession was “the pretender” but George I was selected because he was a protestant.

Christopher Columbus

Christopher Columbus is the explorer who is credited for discovering America. There were already people living in America, Native Americans. There even was a European, Leif Ericsson, who visited America before. However, it was Columbus' voyage that started the exploration of America.
Columbus spent years trying to get someone to pay for his voyage. He first tried to get King John II of Portugal to pay for his voyages. Unfortunately, the King wasn’t interested on this investment. Finally, he was able to convince Queen Isabella and King Ferdinand (from Spain) to pay for this trip.
He started his trip on August 12, 1492 with three caravels named the Nina, the Pinta, and the Santa Maria. The voyage was long and difficult. At one point his men wanted to do a mutiny and to return. Columbus promised them he would turn back in two days if they didn't find land.
(Interesting fact: in his journal he wrote that he had no intentions of turning back.)
On October 12, 1492 they found land. It was a small island in the Bahamas that he named San Salvador. He met natives that he called Indians because he thought that he had landed on islands of East Asia. He also visited other islands in the Caribbean like Cuba and Hispaniola.
Columbus made 4 voyages to “east Asia” America.

Melk Abbey, A Baroque-Style Church

The Melk abbey church is really special because it has one of the most amazing baroque-style interiors in the entire world.
The tree most famous things inside this church is the church interiors, the libary and tha marble hall.
Some critics say that the Melk abbey church decoration is excessively busy, even for a baroque interior. But nobody can’t say that the round way is made isn’t awesome. Is has beautiful frescos, paintings and statues, marble embellishments and an awesome golden altar filling almost every wall and ceiling space.
At the library colorful library houses holds over 80000 medieval volumes and other priceless manuscripts.
The marble hall is an abundantly marble room with magnificent ceiling frescos. This room was used for receptions and audiences.
This church started because leopoldo II gave the enormous castle to the Benedictines in 1089 and it became the melk abbey. Over the next five centuries, the monks renovated it depending on their needs, from 1702 to 1736; they demolished and completely rebuilt the church into the breathtaking church we see today.

LYRICS
I held my head in my hands, and I trembled.
The cries from the crowd and the girl in the camera.
I said, in a prayer, a kind of surrender I wished her peace, wondered what she rendered.

Neda, you made a place for the innocents, a prayer for the dissidents.
Afraid I gave up; I never thought the world could be so small.

And the loss of your innocence wasn’t enough, I guess.
The cost of what you’re holding in wasn’t everything.
All the leaders say, "they’ll forget someday,"
but what you’d live to see would take their breath away.

These ragged smoldering lines and these embers,
the cries in the night to say they remember the face of a girl,
who faithful and tender, wanted only peace and not to surrender.

Neda, your mother can’t cry for your memory or mourn for the tragedy.
[ From: http://www.elyrics.net ]
They tore your grave up.
I never thought the world could be so small.

And the loss of your innocence wasn’t enough, I guess.
The cost of what you’re holding in wasn’t everything.
All the leaders say, "they’ll forget someday,"
but what you’d live to see would take their breath away.

And the flowers on your grave. ??
And the things you gave away were another kind that day.
And the flowers on your grave.

And the loss of your innocence wasn’t enough, I guess.
The cost of what you’re holding in wasn’t everything.
But all the people say, "we won’t forget the day, and what you lived to see takes our breath away."

Neda, you made a place for the innocents, a place for the dissidents.
We nearly gave up.
I never thought the world could be so small.
