Egyptian Pyramids...

For this weekend i was tasked to see one video about the egyptians and write a little paragraph about this video, including what do i think about it. This topic has been interesting for me since I was just a kid. To see the enormous pyramids perfectly designed and aligned to the other pyramids was breathtaking for me. It was very difficult to believe that people in the old world, without technology, had that much intelligence.

A little resume about the video:
The egyptian pyramids were the tallest monuments on earth for 4000 years. This pyramids contain gigantic stone blocks of 70 tons each. This enormous monuments were made by a society that didn't even possessed the wheel.
This monuments have inspirer lots of generations, a lot of people wants to visit them, study them and unlock their secrets.
Some researchers believed that a lot of questions could be answered with the surroundings of the pyramids, but this pyramids have a lack of concrete in their surroundings. Even the newest technology have failed to discover all the misteries.
One of the biggest mysteries of the egyptian pyramids is its exact number. There are like 900 pyramids discovered in Egypt, and egyptians mentioned some of this pyramids in their writings.
This pyramids have the purpose to function as the kings tomb, but why the king`s tomb has to be this big? The pyramid is the representation of the king ascending to the sun, that was what they believed that happened after the king´s dead. The pyramids had to be that enormous because that was the place where the king was going to reborn.
The pyramids were the center pieces of other tombs and some temples. The pyramid altogether with the little tombs and temples were called metropolis. Metropolis means city of the dead and the pyramid it´s only the monument over the kings tomb. The pyramid served as a temple but there was another temple near the pyramid. In this temple there were status and sculpted walls that represents the king.
The only land forms that persists are pointed heels, conical landforms.
There are 3 conical structures in the middle of the dessert 300 miles west from the egyptians. The egyptians could see this mountains even if they were very far. They wanted to build their monuments with that structure so they could be seen through miles.
Before the pyramids there existed another kind of tomb for the kings, the mastaba. The mastara was like a bench but bigger than a normal bench. It doesn't had the pointed heel shape, but was the beginning for the pyramid.
In the egyptians third dynasty there was a genius architect, Imhotep. He began to make an evolution in buildings. He build what is called the step pyramid, a pyramid made by 6 steps or mastabas. That pyramid was like 200 feet in high and 397 x 358 feet in base. This building was the first large building made completely of stone. To move one stone they needed wedges and ropes. The stone was moved by teams of men. They shaped the stones with their own hands.
Inhotep did not planed to do the step pyramid. He started with a normal mastaba, then he did a biggest mastaba. After that he started puting one mastaba over the other mastaba giving a result of a step pyramid.
Before the construction of the great pyramid began they had to find a way to make the floor totally flat. there is a theory that says that they used water. First a channel was dig all around the surface they were going to use for the pyramid. They filled up the channel with water. The water was going to have the exact same hight so the egyptians only had to flat the dry parts to the level of the water.

The video is 45 minutes but i promise i felt it was 5 minutes. This topic is more interesting than what i thought. There where a lot of things that i didn't even imagine they could know. Its amazing the way they think, the way they worked together, how they could know thing only with observation. With this video i know more about how they lived and his ideas, his beliefs. I couldn't chose a better video, it´s really cool.

HERE ARE SOME EXAMPLES OF HOW THE PHONE IS INDISPENSABLE FOR THE WHOLE WORLD AND HOW WE USE IT EVRY SINGLE DAY TO INFORM OUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY HOW OUR DAY IS GOING.

A Big Indispensable Invention.

You know what a telephone is. We use it every day but whats behind it? well here is the part of the history where our friend Alexander Graham bell appears.
Alexander Graham Bell was from Scotland.

His father and his grandfather were speech therapists (cience that studies disorders of language and hearing). Eventually he decided to dedicate his life to speech therapist. When he was 21 years old he started to work for his dad on london before he moved to america.

Bell was really interested on improving the education for deaf people. when he was 26 he stared to desingn a machine that could imitate the human voice and reproduct vowels and consonants for deaf people to communicate. The result of the project was the telephone in 1876.

He opened the first phone center in New Haven, Connectus, U.S. and 6 years later the first long distance call was made in Boston, New York and Massachusetts.

Alexander Graham Bell died when he was 75 years old. He died without knowing that what he was leaving here was going to be something indispensable for the whole world.

Is Geography Destiny? Really?

From the several studies related to history the one I find more interesting is geography. 1 week ago I had my first history class of the semester and Mr. Harris gave us an introduction of what we are going to see this year. I remember something that he said "geography is destiny". When I first heart that I was really confused. How could geography be destiny? Then he explained why he thinks that and his explanation convinced me but I was still really curious, so I felt like I had to look for something on internet. Now after the search I totally agree with Mr. Harris. In Mexico you can see a big difference between the north part and the south part. The north part of mexico share borders with united states so at the same time they share trading and manufacturing. Because of this the north part has more money and many people wants to live there, with this, making a lot of inner commercial. The south part has less population and less job opportunity because a lot of people move to the north part. The south part needs money while the north part has a high economy. The south part wants the north part to buy their products and they have to sell them very cheap. From this you can see how north have economic development very high only because is sharing borders with U.S. This means that geography is totally destiny. I think studying geography this year, already knowing this, will not be fun, but it will be interesting and interesting is more than fun!

What Type Of History?

The type of history I think I will find more interesting this semester is "Specialized Histories" that covers economic history, history of science, history of technology and religious history. I find this interesting because I love technology and science. I have heard something about how thing have been changing through the years, like the telephone, the computer, the telescope, medicine, but I have never been so deep in this topic. Knowing how technology and science are involved in history and how this was used in wars and spying sounds cool. History wouldn´t be the same if they hadn´t had technology and science, so its really important for us to know that technology and science weren't as we have it this days. The computer we use every day doesn't appeared just like that, it has a history so as technology and science.

A Little Bit About Me.

My name is Adriana Margarita Perez Carrillo but I love to be called Nany. Everybody calls me Nany. I don't really know why. I remember everyone calling me Nany since I was just a little girl. My mom tells me that when I was 3 years old, when somebody asked me what my name was, I answered "My name is Nany but everyone calls me Adriana". I really liked my nickname and i still loving it.
I´m from Monterrey. I moved here when I was in second grade. I continued my studies at Senda.I really loved that school. I had a lot of friends there. Then in 4th grade i moved to Colegio Chapultepec. I liked that school, not that much, but it was ok.I have always loved sports. Sports are my passion. I have been in karate, football, basketball, tennis, golf and skiing but dancing is my all. I love to dance and I´m pretty good at it. I started dancing when I was 3 years old. Last year, I won a scholarship on an academy in Mexico City for 1 week. I was really proud of myself.
One of my biggest hobbies is music. I´m always listening or making playlists (I think i could be a pretty cool DJ). I don't have a favorite  music gender, I just love every single song. Once in awhile I need time for me to be in my small world, just me and my music, all alone. Music relaxes me when I'm really stressed out because of homework or exams.
I consider myself as an outstanding student. I think school it´s something really important in life. For me school is like the instructions for a perfect future and a better world, so whenever I am not in the mood to do a task or something really hard comes up I only think in my future and how I want it to be, what person I want to become and my laziness disappears. My favorite subjects at school are math, chemistry, Physics and biology.I have always been good with numbers. I discovered that on second grade when I notice that I was finishing faster then my schoolmates and had a very different way to understand the math problems. My grandfather says that I have it in the genes. He and his brothers where very intelligent. He told me there were some knowledge prizes in his family, I don't know how many but more than one. My grandfather its the person that I most admire. When I grow up I want to be just like him.
Here are some pics.

Weird fact about me (I love to make funny faces when someone is taking a pic)
